Caribbean Foods and Snacks
If you live in the Caribbean, you'd know that we have unique snacks here. However, until you travel to the other countries within the region, you wouldn't know of their varieties.
Snacks can be sweet, savoury, baked, fried, vegetarian, or meat-based, and the list can be as diverse as one's imagination.
Here are some countries and links to the snack foods available within them:
- Barbados [This one from a class project to a business - Yelluh Meat]
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Jamaica
- Bahamas
- St. Lucia
- Aruba
- Curacao
- Belize
- Guyana
- Suriname
- Bonaire
- Grenada
- Dominica
Admittedly, though this post is short in appearance, it is long due to the clickable links included which take you on an excursion through postings by other writers. The researched and wrote well and I hope that their presentations will give you a greater insight to the cuisine of the Caribbean.
Some Caribbean islands adopted a more generic approach to their cuisine featuring the ingredients of the region rather than the dishes of their heritage/cultures. This is not to say there aren't any, they are just a bit more challenging to find online.
I hope that you enjoyed this article and it gives greater insights as to how we can take our similar base ingredients and create diversity through our cuisine. Bravo Caribbean. Looking forward to the innovations that are sure to follow as we develop our culinary artists.
As always feedback is welcome and if you have anything to add that we may have missed then please do so in the comments. We are all learning about our surroundings. Enjoy!
